Pennfodral / Pencil case

Jag trodde att jag var smart när jag gjorde hål i dragkedjan och virkade direkt i hålen. Det visade sig bli mindre lyckat, så nästa gång provade jag att istället virka hela pennfodralet först och sedan sy dit dragkedjan. Symaskinen vann över håltagaren, kan man säga.

I thought I was smart when I made holes in the zipper and crocheted right through the holes. It turned out that it wasn't so smart though, so next time I tried to first crochet the whole pencil case and then sew the zipper on. The sewing machine won.

För båda pennfodralen använde jag dragkedjor (tack mormor) garn som jag redan hade hemma. Det använder jag också som ursäkt för den mindre lyckade färgkombinationen på det första, som är helt i bomullsgarn. Det turkosa fick en härlig blandning av bomull, bambu och merinoull. Jag virkade på frihand men utgick från mönster som jag tidigare hittat någonstans på nätet. Sidenbanden som sitter på dragkedjan, ska erkännas... det är sådana som brukar sitta på tröjor, som jag har klippt av. Det visar sig ju ändå att de kommer till användning ibland, så helt galet kan det inte vara att spara på dem.

For both pencil cases I used old zippers (thank you, grandma) and yarn that I already had at home. That's my excuse for the unfortunate color combination on the first one. That one is made from cotton yarn only. The turquoise one got a nice blend of cotton, bamboo and merino wool. Probably perfect for pencil cases... I freehanded them both, but used tapestry patterns that I have found somewhere on the Internet before. And the silk ribbons, well, you know those ribbons that use to sit on new sweaters? I admit. I cut them off and keep them for occasions just like this. I prefer to call it environmentally friendly and practical instead of sneaky or something like that.
